Counterlines

For Disklavier piano, graphic tablet and visual projection

2009 · 7m

Counterlines is a duet featuring a pianist playing a Yamaha Disklavier and a graphic artist drawing live on a Wacom Cintiq tablet. The performers generate audiovisual materials that relate to each other contrapuntally in five contrasting studies. Using Max and Processing, the pianist creates graphic lines by playing music, while the graphic artist performs sample-based piano lines through drawing."
